Site Development Process

Terrarium-IdeasA website is a result of the partnership and synergy between client & developer. Creating the right content and finding the right look is both exhilarating and demanding.  Many clients find that the process compels them to think in new ways about their business.

Here’s how it works:

I.   Initial Consultation

  • Let’s get in touch – please take a moment to contact me and to answer as many of these questions as you find relevant to your needs.
  • Meeting re: Site needs / Questionnaire – establish scope of work, priorities and loose time frame. (no charge)
  • Quote sent to client & approved.

II.  Site Setup

  • Client chooses & purchases domain name &  webhost service – logins needed.
  • (1/2 of quoted Fee due before work commences;  nonrefundable once work has begun)  I install WordPress or other CMS, databases, or eCommerce & set up Email.  Or, if HTML site, get started on the mainframes.
  • Assembly of site content:  client supplies any text, pictures, color & font wishes, links, etc., preferably via Dropbox. If you need, I can help here.  A good point to have a (virtual or in person) meeting to discuss layout & details.
  • We agree on theme and any other specs. I can provide recommendations and feedback on themes as needed.
  • A good time for client to get started on setting up any new social media, mailing list, or other profiles needed and begin to populate these.

  • any needed changes completed

  • SEO-related actions

IV. Handover. Site goes live!

  • Final site is approved
  • Final payment is due
  • Upon receipt of final payment, the site goes live and all site passwords are handed over to client
  • Spread the word!  Via email, social media, etc.
  • If you need help learning to maintain the site yourself, I can help you with procedures germane to your specific theme beyond the basic offerings of online WordPress tutorials.
